M. Holly Bowdre Glover, MD, FAAD
A South Carolina native, Dr. M. Holly Bowdre Glover returned to the area in 2014 after completing her dermatology residency training at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. She was trained in general, surgical, cosmetic, and pediatric dermatology. Prior to residency, she received her Medical Doctorate and Bachelor of Science at the University of South Carolina. She is a Board-Certified Dermatologist as well as Board-Certified Mohs Surgeon and has articles published in JAMA Dermatology and Journal of Drugs in Dermatology. She lives in Myrtle Beach with her husband, Dr. Andrew Glover, and their two children and two dogs. She enjoys traveling, reading, and boating in her spare time.
Nathan Jones, MD, FAAD
Dr. Jones, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, received his Bachelor of Arts in English from Loyola College of Maryland and went on to get his Medical Doctorate from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. After completing his dermatology training with Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Dr. Jones joined Grand Strand Dermatology in 2008. He has since had the honor of serving as the President of the South Carolina Academy of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery from 2019 – 2022. He is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology in General Dermatology and Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery.
Chris Skvarka, MD, FAAD
After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from the Pennsylvania State University, Dr. Skvarka graduated from Jefferson Medical College. He finished his intern year at the Hahnemann University Hospital in internal medicine and completed his residency in dermatology at the Drexel University College of Medicine. He served as Chief Resident in his last year of residency. Dr. Skvarka is Board-Certified is a Board-Certified Dermatologist as well as Board-Certified Mohs Surgeon and has published recent articles in Dermatologic Surgery, Archives of Dermatology, and the American Journal of Medicine. In addition, he has written two chapters for the textbook series, Requisites in Dermatology.
John P. Welsh, MD, FAAD
John Patrick “J.P.” Welsh, M.D. is thrilled to be joining the dedicated team of physicians and providers at Grand Strand Dermatology. A multi-year honoree of Pittsburgh Magazine’s “Best Doctor” and Castle Connolly’s “Top Doctor,” J.P. arrives in Murrells Inlet with almost 20 years of dermatology experience. He has focused mainly in the area of general medical/surgical dermatology. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, J.P. is a graduate of Grove City College in Pennsylvania with honors degrees in History and Literature. He subsequently spent two years abroad at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland before returning to the United States to complete his medical education at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, where he was elected to the medical school honorary, Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA). J.P. completed his intern year and dermatology residency at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, during his final year serving as Chief Resident and liaison for Graduate Medical Education. Dr. Welsh is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology and a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. He has had his work published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Archives of Dermatology, the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, the American Journal of Medicine, and Cutis. Dr. Welsh and wife, Nicole, have one child, Winnie, and look forward to experiencing everything the South Strand offers.
Lucia Griffith, PA-C
Lucia Griffith is a certified physician assistant who has lived in Murrells Inlet for 15 years. She conducted physical and biomedical research at Coastal Carolina University, where she received a bachelor of science in biochemistry. Lucia graduated from Francis Marion University in Florence South Carolina with a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies.
Morgan Mattingly-Kelley, FNP
Morgan Mattingly, FNP, NP-C is native to the Myrtle Beach area and completed her nursing undergrad at Francis Marion University. Always passionate for dermatology, she completed her MSN at Loyola University New Orleans while training at local medical offices.
Cassie Buchan, PA-C
Cassie Buchan is a Physician Assistant who has called Myrtle Beach home since 2018. Originally from New York, she completed her Physician Assistant degree at Upstate Medical University. Cassie joined GSD in 2022 and achieved Diplomate Fellow status in the SDPA (Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants) through additional training. Her expertise encompasses general and surgical dermatology, providing personalized and compassionate care to each patient she serves.
